I haven't played in a long time. The cats mostly like to sit up there. It's not easy dealing with a pinball machine, both to find someone who wants it and has the space for it and to move it. It was a real effort even moving the one down here from upstairs.
Can't wait to see pictures of the finished studio!

I can imagine how difficult it is to get a pinball machine down the stairs. It would be really awkward among other things. When we bought our king size bed, I did not think the delivery guys would get it upstairs, but they somehow managed it. Here is a photo of the rug I bought. I ordered a small one (4 x 6) as I don't want to cover up very much of the floor. This will go in front of my work bench and my stool will sit on top of it. Dawn

Thanks, Michelle! It arrived a few days ago and I'm really happy with it. There is quite a bit of blue, but there is also quite a bit of gold and the two seem to blend together to make it seem more green than it is. Dawn

OK, time to wrap up this thread. Well, almost. Before I do the big reveal, I wanted to show you what a difference the satin finish made on the lath wall. While I did not put any stain on the lath as I wanted the natural beauty of the wood to show through, the satin finish did darken it a little but in a good way, I think. You can see and decide for yourselves. Next time you see the studio, I will be all moved in and it will be as neat and tidy as it will ever be. Once I start working in there, it will be a miracle if it manages to stay even a tiny bit organized! Dawn

The lath looks very pretty, well worth all that hard work! (As long as I didn't have to do it.) Are you aware what a luxury having a studio like this is?

Absolutely, Cat! Starting with a blank slate like this, I was really able to make it into the cozy inviting room I had pictured in my mind. All that work was definitely worth the effort and this is a room I really enjoy spending time in. I'm very grateful to have this space. Dawn

The rug has beautiful colors. In my studio a rug would not be suitable because it would need to be vacuumed daily with all the silver scraps and dust from sawing etc.,

Thank you, Irith. I really love that rug and am very happy that the blues turned out to be greenish/blue. I hear you about the vacuuming. I drop pieces of wire, beads, etc., all the time, but I have a small hand held vacuum that I can use to clean the rug. It's not a large rug (4 feet by 6 feet) because I wanted to leave most of the wood floor exposed, so vacuuming it won't be a big chore. Dawn

OK, how annoying is this? I'm ready to post the big reveal, pics are edited and downsized, but for some reason, our site won't allow me to post my pics. So sorry, peeps. I'll try again tomorrow. Dawn

It was weird, Cat. I've never seen that happen before and I'm still having the same problem. When I select the file I want to attach, nothing happens and I'm only seeing a portion of the attachment window as well. I no longer have photo bucket, so can't do it by using a URL either. Not sure what to do except wait it out. I suppose I could try opening a flickr acct, but I don't really feel like doing that. I'll try again later. Dawn

OK, Let's try it one more time. I switched browsers from Firefox to Chrome and Chrome is going to let me post photos. Here are before and after pics side by side so you can see what I started with and how it looks now: The rest are sort of going around the room. I will post some closeups later. The trunk in the corner belonged to my great grandfather. When he left Germany to come to America, it contained all of his worldly possessions. I use it to hold my shipping supplies, jewelry boxes, tissue paper, ribbon, etc. Dawn

Interesting. I've had problems with opening links in new tabs in Firefox on and off lately. Maybe Firefox does have a problem. I'm going to try Pale Moon for the same links to see if it works there.
Now to your pictures. Wow, just wow. It looks amazing! You won't have any excuses not to spend time there, missy. The trunk is extra special, I love it.

What an amazing space, Dawn! So cozy - and well organized. I really like the elephant rug.
