By the time late January/early February roll around all but the most devoted fans of winter will be yearning for Spring. One of the first flowers to make its appearance is the daffodil. Depending on the location and the climate, the tips of their green shoots start poking through the ground in Jan/Feb and they are in full bloom by late March/early April. Their bright yellow color sometimes mixed with orange or white is a most welcome sight to winter weary humans. Your challenge is to take your inspiration from the cheerful daffodil and design/create a piece of jewelry. Entries are due by February 15 and should be posted to this thread. As always, we play loose with our deadline and if entries are late, you are still welcome to post your entry. To help inspire you, here are some daffodils: This first one is an original watercolor by me of daffodils blooming in my yard. Have fun; we are looking forward to seeing what your creative minds conjure up for us! Dawn

Beautiful pictures, but my creative mind is clueless at the moment.

I'm struggling with the yellow, although it has been my favorite since my childhood as you know, I hardly ever use it. I have started thinking, though. Sometimes I have to look and then let Mabel do her part of the work first

Oh daffodils! I love your watercolor painting. The photographs make me wish I had a garden where I could grow daffodils. A favorite flower of mine.
I hope I will have something to show for this Spring challenge.

Cat, your struggle with yellow is your challenge. Irith, thank you so much. Have you ever tried growing daffodils in pots? You could have a splash of Spring time color on your balcony. You've reminded me that it's time for me to buy some tulip bulbs to plant in pots for Easter. Dawn

Well, color me excited! Not only am I first to post instead of last, but I'm super excited about what I created! I saw a video on youtube that was made by a woman who cuts up old CDs, colors them with ink markers and then bakes them in her oven for a few minutes. As they melt, the plastic starts to melt and it makes all these very cool bubbles in all different sizes. So, I decided to try it. I am calling them faux stained glass daffodils... Dawn

Thank you, Cat! I love how all those different size bubbles formed. Now I'm thinking hummingbirds might be cool. Or, dragonflies. Oh, butterflies! Dawn

The humble little pin that I made today fades in comparison. Too dark for a picture now, though.

Now you just stop that right now, Lil' Missy! I'm sure your pin is beautiful and amazing and I can't wait to see it. Dawn

Oh, but it was just a spontaneous attempt after I found I had both matte yellow lined and opaque yellow seed beads which already gives you an idea. I didn't feel like making more of it, a necklace or earrings, so a pin was the perfect choice.

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. Sometimes spontaneous gives great results - that leaf pendant I have posted in S&T was spontaneous. I had no idea that's what I'd end up with. You just never know. Dawn

I'm sooo close to randomly choose a cab from my stash and see what I can do to it, uhm, with it On the other hand I may just rip up a bracelet that people keep telling me how pretty it is and yet it has been sitting around forever, so I'd rather save the pearls and use them for something else. Yesterday I found some rather low quality blue pearls in a box and spontaneously wire knitted - it has been some time! - what turned out to look like an onion in the end and filled it with the pearls. I'm a very free spirit these days, lol.
