Gorgeous, Carina! I am a big peacock fan. How do you like the Brother Scan N Cut? My friends with Cricut say it has a steep learning curve, and I know Julie Balzer has a Scan N Cut support group, so I'm wondering if it also is hard to learn. Thank you, Sophy. I think that if you had a Cricut first it could be a learning curve. For me this was the first cutting machine I bought so it came easier. An other big plus is that mine has an auto blade, so it regulates itself how deep to cut. And of course the scan and cut feature was what did it for me. The image tracing is cool also, it makes making cut files from images a breeze. Only sad thing is, that I can't save my files to SVG, but then we have the internet to do that.

Thanks for the review of the Scan n Cut, Carina. Good to know in case I decide to go down that rabbit hole.

Thanks for the review of the Scan n Cut, Carina. Good to know in case I decide to go down that rabbit hole. Of course you can also use the SNC to cut vinyl that you can use for making stickers or decals. Or for ironing on t-shirts and so on. My neighbors daughter had a vinyl shop and had rolls of that stuff at her parents house, so when they cleared them out I adopted them all. Haven't used it with the SNC yet, but I did try a bit cut with dies on glass jars. The rolls of vinyl I "salvaged". A little Christmas light jar I made with the vinyl.

I moved this to another board because I thought that, if you want to discuss this some more, it could also be interesting for others, but would get lost in the challenge thread.

Is this the right board or would it be better in Craft with me, Carina?

It could be in both, you can use the SNC with textile and paper. but they are crafts too.

Love the jar, Carina! I admit, this does look like it could be fun. I probably shouldn't have looked at this thread! Dawn

I have the impression from things Julie Balzer has said, that you can use the SNC to cut stencils. I would be more interested in cutting paper than vinyl, although I think the jar Carina showed is great. I need to up my Christmas decoration game again.
Someone in my in-person craft group has a Cricut and she made us decals out of the vinyl that we then ironed onto t-shirts. If I had found this when my kids were little, I could have cemented my craft mom crown!

I have made several before, for Christmas or as little gifts with candies in them. But now with the SNC I can decorate them just the way I want. The internet is full with free to use cut designs, and I can alway make my own designs if I can't find one I like or need.

This card I actually designed and cut.
