Some years ago, an online friend and stone sellers kindly sent me a batch of small faceted stones. Most of them have little cracks or are cut a bit crooked. She uses those for children to look at under a magnifying glass or even microscope in school and sent me some to pass on to my sister for the children at her work. I kept a few that looked fine and were big enough for me to experiment, for example to see how small I could go with wire crochet or knit bezels, those tiny charms also went to my sister. These yellow quartz drops looked good enough to use them in earrings with a very basic wire crochet bezel. It's something I haven't done in a long time, but it really took me back to my early jewelry making days when wire crochet was all I did.

I just don't know how you do it...weaving with wire. Looks nice. (BTW, to use a bit of my geology major...the yellow quartz is tinted by calcium aluminum silicate, not to be confused by "citrin" which is colored by an Iron oxide. (as I recall) Quartz has a hardness of 7, so it will scratch glass which is near a 5. While a very common mineral, it is fascinating to me with its vast variety of colors, opacity to transparency, patterns etc.) brad

I've missed seeing your wire crochet, Cat. I never get tired of seeing what people do with wire and these beauties are no exception. Brad, how nice for us to have a resident geologist with us! Dawn

Thank you, Brad, in this case, just take a crochet hook and do the same thing as with yarn, pretty much Practice helps, though. I like the variety of quartz as well. Thank you, Dawn Yes, my only wire crochet these days are the baskets as the tiny beads are calling me that loudly and my crochet items sold even less well than the beads. These stones being faceted and transparent, however, like wire better than beads.
