I have three storage tubs that I store my finished jewelry in. My former workplace was going to get rid of them and I asked if I could have them. They are plain white, kind of scuffed up and big red labels glued on all four sides. Until now, I'd never done anything to change their appearance.
As I'm moving into the new studio, it occurred to me how ugly they were and also that they don't look at all nice with the green walls and wood floor. I decided to peel the labels off. They are glued on with what must have been super glue. Aside from a few strips of paper, they were not going to come off.
So, I thought I'd try soaking them in hot water. After a few hours, the labels had softened up enough that I could scrape most of them off, but a glue residue was left behind on the tubs. I got the trusty Goo Gone out of the cupboard and after a couple of applications of it, I was able to remove the glue.
Now they were clean, but just plain old white. I decided to pretty them up a bit. I headed off to the dollar store and found these butterfly stickers. They are stickers on both sides of the paper and at just $1.25 each, I thought this was a pretty good bargain.
Putting the stickers on was fun; I felt like a little kid! After sticking the stickers all over the tubs, I was quite pleased with the results and I think they will look great stacked under the workbench in my studio. I'm also pleased that this project cost very little and not a whole lot of time either.
