Kathy from Feathered Gems (for those who remember the greyhound lady ) just posted that AF is going out of business end of December. Another short notice closing down. She had just moved her Zibbet shop back to ArtFire a few months ago.
Isn't it sad that there is no real competition for Etsy? I don't remember if I have already posted it here somewhere, but their new commercial annoys me even more than the one before. In the older one they at least showed different makers, even if they didn't mention them. The new one is about a child giving another child a custom made gift, but it doesn't mention in any way that it's by a seller on Etsy, not Etsy per se. At the end they are showing the word Etsy really big and a tiny print at the bottom that you can hardly read - and you have to pause the TV to do so at all - says that prices depend on the respective seller. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Yes, it is sad. I'm hoping Michaels may end up being that much needed competition. I think a lot of people thought that's what Artfire would be but poor management decisions (IMO) ruined any chance of that.
Yes, I agree - Etsy should be ashamed. Gone are the old days when they actually cared about the creative process. It's all about the money now and anyone who thinks differently is fooling themselves.
