I need to decide what I’m going to do, and really shouldn’t have procrastinated so long.

I love it! It's so pretty and springy and you did a wonderful job using pastels in your design. Nicely done, Cat! Michelle, you aren't the only one who has been procrastinating. I hope to get something together in the next couple of days. Dawn

Cat, your necklace is really pretty! The colours complement the cab so well!

So here is what I’ve been working on for our challenge. They were supposed to grow up to become a pair of earrings, but I’m having trouble gauging how much edge to leave to put the edging on. I will need to take this one apart, because there is not enough edge to properly attach the edging. But hey it’s all the learning process, right? Also? I’m open to any tips!

Thank you, Dawn and Sami! Michelle, I've had pieces that hardly had any backing edge because I tend to cut very closely to the stitches. I just sew through the rows of beads very carefully at an angle. I think it depends on how much of the edging you want to show. From my point of view it's ambitious to turn this into a pair of earrings, but I'm only saying that because I turned so many would-be earrings into pendants after finishing one!

Thanks Cat! Well, maybe ought to keep going then. I did wonder if what you suggested would work. Making it a pendant did cross my mind! 🤣

Sorry, Michelle, I can't help you with seed bead projects as that's not my area of expertise. But, I can say that I really love what you've done so far and I think you should keep going with what you have regardless of whether it becomes part of a pair of earrings or if it ends up a pendant. I think it's going to be really pretty when you finish. As, I noted in the blog carnival thread, I'm going to be late with my challenge submission. I know what I'm going to do, but all we've done for the last week is paint walls and ceilings and I just don't have the time or energy to do anything else at the moment. Heck, I'm lucky to get a shower in each day lately! I hope to have my piece done later in the week. Dawn

I thank Cat for this finish, because of her tips for dealing with the beaded edge. The assignment was for pastel colors. The central flower beads that I started with were pastel, but I don’t really have much in the way of pastel beads, so.....

I tried wearing the earrings today, They were a bit heavy and the back wanted to show itself far too often. I am thinking of taking them apart. But, I learned to a decent edge, so it’s all good!

They are beautiful, Michelle! Even if they didn't turn out quite the way you wanted, you leaned a lot which will help you next time you try a similar design. I learn so much more from the pieces that didn't turn out as well as I would have liked than I do from those that turn our perfectly on the first attempt. Dawn

I'm with Dawn here. It's a pity to rip them up, but even they are not completely comfortable for you to wear, they were still a good lesson.
