Just Joined!

Hi everyone!
I'm Togan (my nickname, but I prefer it) and I love making jewelry. Like a lot of you, it is something I've been doing for many years now. In my case, it has been a passion since childhood. I love experimenting with different components for my jewelry (and in the process reviewing suppliers). I do some wire-wrapping, but nothing really advanced.  I've been to a few bead trade shows and those experiences were overwhelmingly wonderful!

I recently started a jewelry design course with the New York Institute of Art and Design. Since everything I know is self-taught I thought it would be interesting to get structured training and maybe hone my skills. I am also taking a beginner's gemology course (for fun and knowledge) which has been very interesting. What brought me here was in the Jewelry Design class, it was suggested that we reach out to bead societies, and groups, etc. to connect with others who share our enthusiasm for the craft. So here I am! =) Looking forward to getting to know some of you creative minds!

I am so jealous over the course you are taking! Most of us here are self taught, but to take a class like that would be a dream. I live in a tiny town in N. California and there are no opportunities like that around here. Good for you for pursuing your dreams.

We used to have monthly challenges, but after participation had been low, we changed to a two month schedule, this time it's three months because of summer, and it's an easy topic.
