Boy, looking at this forum, I realize that I have missed seeing and commenting on a lot of past posts. I have some catching up to do, that is for sure. Now, I feel bad, cuz I'm posting something and y'all are going to think the only reason I'm looking at and commenting on your stuff is so that you'll look at and comment on my stuff! I swear that is not the reason; I just seem to overlook or not see this forum for some reason and will try to do better in the future. Anyway, I recently finished these sets of three fall leaf magnets and wanted to share. I have another set of four that haven't been photographed yet, but they aren't as striking as these. The colors and patterns in these leaves are really unique and eye catching which is what made me want to preserve them. Also posted these in the last challenge thread of the year. Even though they are not jewelry, they seemed like a good fit. Dawn

I think I'll have to start collecting leaves and send them to you for transformation These are so beautiful, I really love them! How do you decide what to turn into a magnet and what becomes jewelry? My favorites are the whitish-red one in the first picture and the dotted one in the second picture, they would have made beautiful pendants, too.

Awww, thank you so much, Cat! I'd love to see and work with fall leaves from Germany. The leaves that get turned into magnets are usually ones that are too big to be a pendant. The largest leaf out of these leaves is 3.5 inches long. Except for those who like to wear big, bold statement necklaces, it seems that most people prefer pendants in the 1.5 to 2 inch range. While too big to be pendants, the patterns and colors in the larger leaves are often just too beautiful not to be preserved and made into something so magnets it is. They are just amazing to me. When I'm out collecting leaves, I'm simply awestruck at the variety of colors and patterns - they remind me of snowflakes, no two the same even though millions of leaves are shed by trees each year. They are so fleeting too - for just a few weeks a year, they treat our eyes to their beauty and then they are gone for another year. I'm trying something new with the large leaves that will allow me to use parts of them in pendants. I think it's going to be cool. Will post as soon as I have something to share. Dawn

Cool! Love them, Dawn!
You're right, there are so many wonderful colors and patterns in autumn leaves. How nice for you to preserve them! They're beautiful.

I love them too! Stunning variety of colors! Wonderful idea to make magnets of them! Just saw you have two listings of them in your shop. I would love to see more of them there! They could make a beautiful collection and great gifts!

Thank you, Gayle and Irith! Irith, I have another set that I need to list. Because they are smaller leaves, I've put them together as a set of four. Will get them listed either this weekend or the first part of next week - as soon as I take some photos. Dawn

Thank you, Michele! I made myself a leaf coaster, but I don't think I want to get into making and selling coasters. That was just a fun thing to do to see how it would turn out. Dawn

Here you go, Cat - my coaster! I only put cold drinks on it as I've heard/read that heat can cause the resin to soften. I guess I should test that and find out for myself. I found a stack of those small glass dishes at the thrift store and paid 10 cents each for them. They have a depression that is just right for filling up with resin and inserting a leaf and they are the perfect size to be a coaster. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedDawn
