Sunflowers were the theme of this week's Oldies but Goodies challenge and I posted this there just under the closing deadline. Since it's also a "newbie" (just finished it an hour ago), I figured I'd give it it's own thread as well. The vintage component that makes up the frame for the pendant is brass (I think) that already had a sunflower design. I used acrylic paint for the yellow and orange back side and for the sunflower painting on the front as well. It was then sealed with resin. Yellow and black glass beads, bronze colored large seed beads and bronze wire were used to make four beaded components which were then interspersed amongst the vintage brass chain. The pendant isn't as big as it looks and measures 1.75 inches across. Thanks for looking! Dawn

Love it! The frame is perfect to showcase the beautiful sunflower.
It definitely deserves it's own thread.

It's lovely. I admire how you make the frames/bezels work together with the paintings!

I was to late to comment in the Oldies and Goodies Challenge, so I'm glad a get a chance to do it here.
Everytime I'm amazed of the paintings you create and I wonder, I know the beads are from wood, did you use wood in the pendant too? Do you cut them out yourself, or do you buy them in discs?

That's pretty. I like the way you combine the multiple talents of painting a picture, using resin and the jewelry into one piece.

Thank you so much, ladies! Carina, I think this bezel is brass. I use all different kinds of things like wood, metal, bone and stone that I buy at different places. The last few things I've shown, the bezels/frames came from a new store in town that opened a few months ago. The owner has plastic bins full of old jewelry parts that he buys at estate auctions. It's great fun to go through the bins to find small treasures that can be turned into new jewelry. I haven't made any of these myself; I don't have the tools or skills to make anything like this, but they sure are fun to find and then figure out how to use in designs. Dawn

Really nice, Dawn. I love how the frame showcases and enhances the sunflower.
Your paintings are always so lovely!

Aw, thank you Gayle! I fell in love with that bezel as soon as I saw it - going to be hard to let it go when and if anyone buys the necklace. Dawn
