I am so excited to have completed a painted pendant for the first time in four years! It's also my first completed resin piece. Previously, I would paint the pendant, spray with sealer, let dry, sand smooth, spray with sealer, let dry, sand smooth and so on until the finish was perfectly smooth and glossy. Usually around five coats. Then all those layers of sealer needed weeks to be fully dry. It was a very time consuming process. Having started painting again recently, I started wondering if there was a better way and resin came to mind. There's a learning curve to resin and many practice pieces later here is one I feel I can call finished. The resin has made a huge difference in the length it takes to get to a completed pendant - from weeks to 24 hours drying time. It has also substantially reduced the work involved which is going to allow me to produce more paintings than in the past. It measures one inch square and is suspended from black leather cord. Thanks for looking! Dawn

I'm so glad to see you painting again. I know elephants have a special place in your heart. That makes them a perfect subject for dipping your toes in the water again. The pendant is beautiful and adorable. The bezel looks like it was made for elephants. Love everything about it.

Thank you, Michele. I am very happy to have picked up the paint brushes again! I agree about the bezel. The back seems to have an Asian/African influence and since elephants live in both places it seemed like a natural. Dawn

Wow, that looks very neat. You painted that yourself? Great. The only thing I manage to draw is a stick man Beautiful necklace. Everything looks so balanced and perfect to me.

Thank you so much, Sylvia! I've been on a long hiatus from painting and am finally starting back up again. Had it listed for two days and took it down this morning as I decided to keep it. Figured that was appropriate since it was the first completed resin piece, plus I doubt I'll ever come across another bezel like that one! Dawn

Dawn, I well remember the thread on the old forum where you showed us the progress of one of your painted cuffs. Your work is amazing and this piece is no exception. I'm so glad you picked up your brushes again.

Thank you, Caroline and Carole! The encouragement in your sweet words is very much appreciated. Caroline, I'm afraid I really did hog that oldies challenge - just couldn't seem to stop myself! Carole, that was a fun thread - it's such a shame that it was lost when we lost SJA. Dawn
