This project has been around for months because I was still trying to decide if I should give Barbie a new face or not after I messed up the first head (glue and me - don't ask). What I did with her: - re-root the head and cut the hair - retouch the lips and nails in red - bead loom the dress - string the pearls (golden freshwater pearls and black onyx) - put a row of beads on the shoes as straps - bead the headband and sew on the peacock feathers

Oh, how cool!!! I love everything about her, Cat! She's truly a collector's item...
The dress is amazing! I love all the attention to detail.

OMG, Cat! She is stunning. That dress is just WOW! The headband is too cool and the strands of pearls are the perfect touch. I am so glad you didn't give up when the first head didn't go well. Not sure when I'll be able to pick my jaw up off of the floor. Can't stop looking... Dawn

Can you imagine how slinky a life sized dress made out of seed beads would be? Dawn

Oh Dawn, I got a link for you .... in an extra thread, though, so others will see it, too. Thank you, Gayle and Dawn, Flapper girl is in my collection now, and I think she fits right in there. I'm really happy with her. Making Barbie outfits is not out of my system yet

Cat, some of my favorite romance novels were written in the 20's. Back when horrors: women painted their faces, used nail polish on very long nails, and wore dresses without much of a back. You have created the perfect flapper! Oh, and the hair is just right as well.

Thank you so much, Sue! I also thought about giving her a cigarette in a long holder, but I'm not that motivated to play with clay at the moment. Who knows, maybe some day.

Cat, if you haven't already seen it, watch "Cold Comfort Farm". Lots of stars, including Sir Ian McKellen, who's a hoot (and equally funny as well as serious). Have you seen the serious "Vicious"? Hard to catch my breath I laugh so hard. And I didn't know Sir(?) Derek Jacobi was funny too. Anyway, the movie is set in the 20's.
