I got this stone more than a year ago and I never knew what to do with it. I hadn't even known about cantera opals before. When I finally decided I had to use it, it took me four attempts to be happy with the outcome. I started with silver, but it looked too pale. I tried bigger pearls, but they were too overbearing. Even if I say so myself now - this is just what I wanted. Cantera refers to the matrix the opal is polished with. Cantera opals come from Mexico and are the equivalent to Australian Boulder opals.

That's what I thought, Dawn, but then someone on FB had the idea it looked like a dragon's egg about to hatch. What a beautiful idea! I think that dragon would be a gorgeous creature shimmering in the colors you can see through the opening Thank you all!
