Our challenge for March/April was to create something from beads we would never use. We all have beads in our stash that cause us to ask ourselves what we were thinking when we bought them. Or, perhaps they were a gift or maybe there is nothing wrong with the beads, but you just haven't been able to think of a way to use them. The jewelry artists who participated in this challenge certainly rose to the occasion. From Irith, we have this beautiful necklace made of amber beads she bought in an antique shop many years ago, put in a box and then forgot all about them. We are glad this challenge motivated you to remember those wonderful bead, Irith! After staring at her beads for weeks, Cat came up with this wonderful zigzag necklace and used her mismatched beads as dangles. Such a great way to use these beads; I knew Cat would not disappoint. I was able to use three different types of beads I thought I'd never use starting with the large wood bead wrapped in orange, red and lime green cord. Once I started, it all sort of came together bit by bit. Congratulations, everyone, for finally using up those beads! Dawn

You all made beautiful pieces with your neglected beads! The strung amber beads are lovely, Irith. I love those slightly mis-matched dangles, Cat. And Dawn, this retro necklace is amazing! I really dig it. 😉
I had every intention of participating, but honestly my mom is taking more of my time, and that interferes with my jewelry making (among other things). I expect my participation to continue to be hit and miss. 😢

I hope your Mom is ok, Michelle. It's hard when our loved ones grow older and need more of our time. As Cat say, we play pretty loose with our deadlines. If you want to add something later, feel free. Oh, and thank you for the kind words about my retro necklace! Dawn

Cat, this is a very special design necklace. I love the various blue shades of the beads.
Dawn, I think you gave a lot of thought to how you connected the pieces in your necklace. I love these shapes and colors.
