I am taking art and art biz classes from several artists. One of then suggested using ChatGPT to help you expand your ideas for motifs to use in your fabric collections. I decided to give it a try. I chose Mardi Gras for a collection theme because I love the colors. Then I asked ChatGPT for a list of Mardi Gras related architecture, plants, animals, etc. It was great, because it did include ideas that hadn’t occurred to me, and one that I hadn’t heard of: Creole Cottages. These little house have a unique structure and are often painted in bright colors. And down the rabbit hole I went. Also, I wrote a blog post about it, if you’d care to learn more. This is great! I've always been attracted to the combination of purple, pink, yellow and green and the shapes of those houses are so interesting. I think that would be really cute on pillows and cushions for patio furniture, especially during Mardi Gras time. I can just picture it with wicker furniture. I have concerns about AI, but you have put it to very good use! Dawn

I've seen those houses in documentaries, but if I ever heard the term for them, I certainly forgot. I really like Dawn's image of using it with wicker furniture! Serious question - why ChatGPT and not just googling (and as a librarian not even googling makes me completely happy, but I get that this is not a thesis and expecting real research would be asking a bit much After all this isn't a thesis)? Another question, do you have any idea why your feed would send a different URL to my blog list which then obviously doesn't work? I skimmed the post for now, but will be back again for a thorough read

Thanks so much ladies! I love the ideas of pillows on wicker. 😄
As for AI, I share your concerns about the long term implications. But I decided that this use might be interesting to try. As you pointed out Cat, this is not a thesis. As for Google if I ask it to list flowers, animals, motifs, and architecture (as I just did) it gives me links to flowers. Just the first term. I do not get a list of all of these items as Chat GPT is able to give. I would not have known about Creole Cottages without ChatGPT. Of course, I used Google to learn about them.
As for the blog link, I made a change to the blog, not realizing it would change the link. It was only after the change was that I realized it had done that. Sorry for the confusion! But it should be fine from here on out.

Thanks for the tour, Michelle. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities, but I had not heard of Creole cottages either.
I look forward to seeing your collection!

Thanks so much, Carole! Sadly, I have never been to New Orleans, but I love the vibe, the music, and the architecture. Hopefully one day.

Its been many many years since my last visit to Cajun Country, and to Creole country...two very different cultures, foods, and music. etc. I used to love New Orleans. The history (much of it), the architecture, the food, and the jazz scene. Our band played a set of "Cajun" traditional music, my chance to the play the Cajun triangles I made and sold. I sure do miss sitting down to a table spilled out with a pot of fresh crawfish/mudbugs. Brad

I would love to visit New Orleans and go to the music clubs and concerts they have there.

What cool memories, Brad! Now if science would hurry up and invent a transporter like in Star Trek, we could all have a meetup there. 😄

Oh what fun we could have! I could have so much fun being the tour guide for music, craft, art, food, and historical architecture. Traditional Cajun to creole to contemporary blackened foods. Though I may be dreaming of the past.

Still, it would be awesome to have such an experienced guide even if things have changed a bit. 😄
