I bought a shirt that I really liked on the hanger in the store, but after I wore it once, I didn't like it anymore. This is the shirt, please excuse the wrinkles. When I saw it in the store, what I liked was the muted pink color, the buttons down the side and the art work. And, yes, I did try it on in the store. After I wore it one time and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I realized that I did not like the cut or the buttons down the side. It looked like a dentist's smock. However, I really liked the artwork and the color. What to do, what to do? After giving it some thought, I figured I had nothing to lose. I cut out the artwork and ironed out the wrinkles. The last step was attaching the artwork to a plain long sleeved black tshirt by ironing on the artwork using an iron on transfer sheet. Voila, a two to one deal which resulted in my new shirt. I really like my new shirt and no longer feel like I'm wearing a dentist's smock! Dawn

How pretty! It looks much better on the black shirt. Nice save!
I hate losing favorite shirts because they have those typical little holes, so maybe that's something I should keep in mind.

I love it, Dawn! I have a number of clothing upcycles / recycles to do. I’ll share when I do.

Thank you both! My sewing skills are very limited, but there are other ways to make modifications to clothing. It's quite fun, actually, especially once one doesn't feel bad about cutting up clothes. I really didn't like that pink shirt, but am glad a way was found to save the artwork in a way that I can enjoy it. Thinking back, I guess I should have cut the buttons off and saved those too! Dawn

Michelle, I have a jar full of antique buttons (my source for the button rings I make) as well as a cigar box and a couple of zip lock bags. Love me some buttons! Well, Cat. I do remember a certain someone scrambling around trying to come up with a button for our button challenge. *stern look directed at Cat* Dawn

I like what you did with it. I have a collection of old buttons too which I cut off from shirts I decided to get rid of.. I don't do it anymore.
