This is the octopus I made for a friend of mine who wants to use it as a focal for a basket weaving project. I can't wait to see what she'll come up with! I really should have taken more breaks while wrapping the tentacles. I got more of those rings and already have some vague ideas what else to put in them, but I'll really have to go slow with that.

Ooooo, I really like that. The addition of the ring gives this octopus a sense of movement that is different from the others you have made. I can just picture it wiggling itself out of the ring as it explores with those wonderful tentacles. Dawn

Thank you, Dawn! In fact I am working on another one right now that will look a little different. The tentacle fever! I started spontaneously as a big ole somecat pinned me down, but all the copper wire was in reach. I was smarter this time and took breaks between the tentacles. Actually tonight is the first time my hand is starting to feel better.

Beautiful Octopus. He looks nice and comfortable in the ring.
I am glad that your hand is feeling better now.

Thank you, Irith I'm glad, too. It was very annoying, not only creatively, but also with chores around the house, like simply picking up a pan!

I hope so, too! At the moment she's practising her twining, so she can then move on to false embroidery (a technique used by Native Americans to embellish their twined creations). I doubt the octopus has even made it to Australia yet.

That’s quite the journey for the octopus. Cool!

Oh yes. My friend works there as an anthropologist which also explains her interest in all of these old crafts.

I like that! How often do you poke the tips of your fingers, working with all that wire?

Thank you, Brad I don't poke myself at all. You just bend the wire out of the way that you are not working with at the moment and the end of the working wire is hanging off to the side. Beading, and needle felting is much more dangerous because those needles just aim for your fingers, lol, and I have even managed more than once embedding the tip of my crochet hook in my finger

I sure hope so. She got inspired by a tree of life focal, but I have never really tried a tree of life and also wanted to put my own touch on it, so I suggested the octopus because I know she likes them
