The one thing I’ve been able to do consistently during this vile ragweed season is draw. It takes relatively little energy. Anyway, I’ve been fascinated with fabric since I was tiny. I had one of my great grandmother’s scrappy quilts on my bed, and loved all the colors and patterns. So I’ve learned how to make repeat patterns in Procreate. I’ve been working on fabric collections. Here is the latest. It’s all about hibiscus. Here are a few of them. (No Eiffel Tower yet. Still mulling.)

It always amazes me how a common motif can be used in such different ways, from that great jungle effect to the happy summer designs and the softness of the pink one. Lovely!

I love seeing what your doing with fabric design, Michelle! I've always loved fabric, and even though I don't know how to sew, I can happily spend time just walking through a fabric store looking at all the different colors and patterns. It's an amazing art form. A former co-worker of mine had a daughter who went to design school and specialized in textiles. After she graduated, she got a job with Gymboree designing fabric for children's clothes. Her mom would bring samples of her fabrics to work and she came up with the most amazing things. It's very cool that technology has made it possible for anyone to design their own fabric. I can imagine how satisfying it must be to have a way create your own original designs and have it actually made into fabric you can use to make useful things. Dawn

Thanks so much, Dawn! Very cool about your co-worker’s daughter. My fabric will end up in quilts. I’ve been putting some of them on Spoonflower, where you can buy fabric or sheets, pillows etc. Personally, I think it’s way to expensive to generate much interest. But we have to order a swatch in order to make sure it’s printing properly. Those swatches are now in with the quilt fabric stash. I’d love to be able to license my designs. But I’m not holding my breath. LOL!

Saving those swatches is a GREAT idea, Michelle! Yea, most of us little people don't have the time or money to go through the licensing process. And, then there is trying to enforce the license/copyright/tradmark once you have it. Dawn
