A customer made the suggestion that a tiny suitcase might make a nice pendant. I told her that it would take way too long and therefore be much too expensive, but of course I couldn't resist trying how long it would really take. The result ... WAY too long although it doesn't even open up. So long that I don't believe it myself when looking at it. Now I have been thinking that a different technique might make it quicker, but I need to step away from the idea and make something else first, I even had a hard time finishing this one! So it won't be a pendant, but will belong to one of my dolls eventually It is 1 inch high and 1 1/2 inch wide.

I love it! It makes me wonder what it would be like to have a life size suitcase that looked like that. Those tiny pieces often take much longer than the larger ones. Maybe due to all of the attention to detail that is required. It's really sweet, Cat. Dawn

Thank you, Dawn!
I used up all of the transparent brown and a lot of the matte brown, but had this mix from my last bead order and it reminded me of colorful leather that was so popular when I grew up (I had an orange school bag myself, German school bags were different from those that are used today and all of them are different from what is used in the USA because we didn't have lockers in school, so we had to carry everything back and forth every day, also in my time there were no schools where you stayed the whole day with lunch, we had lessons until around noon and then went home, on some days we came back for afternoon lessons).
The look with the straps is inspired by vintage leather suitcases which often had one or two straps to secure them.
What takes really long is not only the bead embroidery, but bringing it all together and making it fit, measuring right, glueing edges, hiding edges, securing beads.

Thank you, Michelle! I think another doll will get it as I don't like the blue with Dawn's green shirt.

There will be at least two other dolls before that who will definitely not need a suitcase. At least that's the plan, but you know me, I'm so unreliable.

With all these amazing accessories you make for your dolls, sometimes I envy those barbies

I dunno, Cat. Rather than unreliable, I'd say you are a spontaneous free spirit! You just keep on doing what you do the way you want to do it. Dawn
