A while back, we had a discussion about making jewelry out of things that aren't normally considered jewelry such as buttons, shower curtain rings and washers. I'm going to broadly call these 'found items'. Your challenge is to make jewelry out of found item(s). You may use whatever you wish as long as your main focal component consists of something not normally used for jewelry. The challenge period will be due on April 15. Please post your finished piece(s) to this thread. Looking forward to seeing what your creative minds conjure up! Dawn

I'm not aware of having seen this thread before. Found items, I should be able to do that

I will have to "find" something first to get an idea!

This is an interesting challenge. I will see what I can do.

In the "pirate medallion" thread I said Michelle gave me an idea. Now I ordered something for that attempt and only just now noticed that it will be perfect for the challenge if it works out!

I am so mad. I ordered four glass items, two of them arrived smashed to bits which does not surprise me as the seller put them in plastic baggies in an ordinary small bubble envelope without any extra padding which wasn't even marked fragile. Actually I'm more surprised that two of them made it than about the broken ones. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller.

OMGosh! I can imagine how irritating that was, Cat. I think most of us are obsessive about packing our things so that they arrive safely at their destination. Have you heard from the seller yet?

He said he'd check for the size and send them again if they had them (vintage items). Shortly after, I got a refund for one, so I guess they'll send the other one. I wrote back to ask if I understood that right.

Will you be able to do your project if you're short one of the items, Cat? I'm glad he took care of you even though that's not the outcome you were hoping for. Dawn

Oh yes, one would have been enough, but somehow I can never just order one thing I just didn't like that he wrote he'd get back to me and then only sent one refund without confirming he sent the other one. I'm so used from my job to give the best possible and complete information that it bugs me if people are too lazy for a two line email.

I'm glad one will be enough to do your challenge piece (which I grow more curious about by the day). I know what you mean, Cat. I don't like it, but I'm learning to accept that this is the way people communicate these days. I guess they've worn me down. Dawn

I do my best not to order things from abroad which are fragile, although many times I am really tempted. Sometimes the sellers are not aware of how roughly packages are handled during shipping. I've heard similar stories like yours Cat, from other people. Most annoying!
