Hey all! I'm spending the weekend in New York City this weekend! Woo Hoo! Anybody know of some must-see bead stores? I know this is short notice, but I thought maybe somebody might have a standout store in mind... Thanks!

Did you wait until the last minute to tell us, so we wouldn't have time to pack and go with you? Can't help you, but have fun.

No, Michele, I waited till the last minute because this is a last minute trip. I'm going with my girlfriend from Minnesota, her daughter and 18 month old granddaughter. It's an all girls weekend! I'm leaving tomorrow morning and returning Monday night... You're all more than welcome to join us!

Gayle, here's a list of lots of bead supply vendors in NYC...the best ones are usually not storefront shops but in the office buildings...I used to go to one that was on Fifth Ave across from the Empire State building but I doubt that she is there any longer. www.guidetobeadwork.com/lz,cat_id,36-new-york-bead-stores-by-zip-code-postal-code.php

I had a blast, ladies (and gents)!
We went to see The Lion King on Sunday evening and it was most spectacular! The colors, costumes and music were to die for. *SIGH*
Yesterday, my BFF and I set out to look for bead stores. We found a fabulous wholesaler and purchased strands of coral, lapis, turquoise, amber, black agate, red jasper and some lovely, faceted garnet. Wowie! We walked and walked and walked some more. I wish there was a wholesaler tour to take. There's just so much to see and do in NYC and my feet are feeling it.
It was a wonderful, spur of the moment trip. Next time, I'm wearing my walking shoes...

Angela, the name of the vendor is New York Jewelry Mart Corporation. They don't have a website. The salesman said we could reorder by sending them an email and the item number. Apparently, you have to go to NYC to see what they have... Just in case you want to send them an email, here's their address: nyjewelry@gmail.com. I'm not sure that will do you any good, but there you go.....
I'm very pleased with my purchases and I think I got good prices. I can never remember what I pay for previous strands of goodies. though. I just ballpark it.
I'll post some pics of my goodies tomorrow!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun!!! Makes me want to plan a trip to the Big Apple (as an adult)! Last time I was there, I was under 12 yrs of age, and my dad took me and my cousin to a Yankees-Royals game. My dad caught a foul during practice for me, and the nasty guy who missed it called me a boy! Then I got a migraine from all the intense bright stadium lights. But I'll never forget the stadium hot dogs we had, they really are something. I'll never forget that trip!
