Well, how about we start with our most perplexing problem: How do I take a good pic of my jewelry? I pointed my camera at my jewelry, the light looked good, the display/background looked okay, so why doesn't the final pic look good? Here's a great link to start with, Tabletopstudio.... www.tabletopstudio.com/Since the last time I checked it out, a few years ago, Tabletopstudio has increased their "how to photograph jewelry" section by leaps and bounds. That would indicate there's a real need for help in this area. You could spend hours going through this site so it's a great first step. Tomorrow I'll introduce you to my little friend, my camera. (Boy, that sounds like a great movie quote for the Chat forum.) In future posts we'll discuss photography set ups, props, camera settings, photo processing programs, photo sharing sites, tutorials. And I hope we'll get some "How I took it" posts as well. So I'll end by posting a pic of a leather wrap bracelet that I thnik turned out fairly nicely: Attachments:

Thanks for taking this on, Koolbraider. That is a very pretty bracelet, as well as being a good photo.

I took a quick glance at the link and saw a bit about dealing with the dreaded gray background that is supposed to be white...will be taking a closer look at that later! Dawn

I look forward to learning how to take better pics. I'm a point and shoot and hope for the best picture taker.

Thanks for the link and for taking this bull by the horns! I look forward to more info on this subject.
My pics are inconsistent. Sometimes they're ok and sometimes they're not. I need this info!

"The dreaded gray background...oh no!!!" Hopefully we'll get to posting the set ups that were on the old SJA forum. They were all a variation on the photo cube tabletopstudio sells. Personally, I was shocked to see how their site had expanded. There's so much to learn.

That's a good photo. Good depth of field and nice exposure and white balance. Good for you!
