I know a lot of us sell online - etsy, artfire, dawanda, etc. and craft shows.
Since my jewelry is nature related, I have consigned and sold to garden gift shops and a botanical garden gift shop.
Do any of you sell in places that you think are unique?

I used to have my work in a high end local gallery, but they closed in January. I did really well there and would like to find another place to consign. We don't currently have anything that fits the bill in town, so I am considering contacting some of the galleries in big town which is about an hour away. It's finding the courage to approach them that is the tricky bit! Dawn

Can you find the courage for me, too? I tried two shops, both were a no, but they weren't really galleries ... I would probably have to look for a shop in the town where I work, there's only one in my town that looks as if could work. The only problem with it is that it's never open, I have no idea if it's supposed to be some weird storage room ...

Cat, we are going to have to buck each other up to overcome this problem we both have. I've gotten much more comfy handing out business cards, thanks to the encouragement from the folks here. It's a baby step, but something I couldn't bring myself to do a year ago. I guess what I'm getting at is if you are comfortable handing out your cards. We could start an "afraid to promote ourselves" support group and build from being able to hand out cards to being brave enough to approach a studio/gallery/shop. Are you in? Dawn

I don't even get the chance anymore to hand out business cards, Dawn. I used to give them out on the train when ladies sitting next to me asked me what I was working on, but now I always take the same trains as my sisters and we sit together. I can't give them out at work, the bosses don't like stuff like that. Also my experience is that Germans are more shy about asking. I often get shy smiles when telling a student I like his t-shirt or her earrings.
