I'm trying to patina copper with amonia... what do I do to the copper once it's the colour I want... lots of places tell you what to do... but the colout doesn't seem perminant once you've done it... I usually wax things but not sure about doing that with this?

I also use Renaissance wax mostly, I have just purchased a spray on clear sealer that I have used a couple of new pieces...I have seen lots of recommendations for Permalac which I think comes in both spray and brush on versions.

The blue finsih knockjed off just touching it moving it from the 'bath' into the sun to dry it.... seems to be totally non permanent! I know I tried a sawdust patina once and it all came off the first time I looked at it.
Thanks... think they will stay heat treated for now.. living on an island in the middle of nowhere makes buying things difficult... and I've lost interest in the project by the time mail order things show up here!
