This week's Oldies but Goodies Theme Challenge is CHARMS. As usual the rules are not strict, so I leave the definition of charms to you. (We have been out of suggestions for the challenges for a while, so I thought I'd just mention the suggestion thread to you again jewelryartisans.proboards.com/thread/4307/oldies-goodies-challenge-suggestion-thread)Go through your stash and post a picture in this thread that pertains to the theme. It can be something you made yesterday or something you made five years ago. We encourage you to post as many items as you want. Can't make it much simpler. We hope to see a lot of creative pics of your CHARMS jewelry. We'd love to have more members participate in this easy, fun challenge. Won't you join us? The Oldies but Goodies Challenges will last two weeks, so you have enough time to share your items! To make it easier, the end date is in the subject now.

I'll get this started even though I don't use charms much myself (in the strict sense, I do love my dangles as you know).

Beautiful, Cat! Your dragons are "charming" and the butterfly/moth is simply exquisite. Dawn

Thank you, Dawn! I got that little flower as an extra with a findings order and thought it was very cute.

Here are a few from me. I don't use a lot of charms, but when I went looking I found some things that will work for the challenge. The little cowboy boot isn't a traditional charm, but I feel like it could be called a charm the way it was used here: This is from a steampunk challenge we had a few years ago: I used all of the tags from our dogs' collars to make this charm bracelet. The dogs are no longer with us, but I will always have this to remember them: Dawn

Forgive me for hogging the thread, but I wanted to share these bracelets I made for my Spanish teacher friend when she retired. The first one is not a charm bracelet, but she is very much into Dia de los Muertos, especially the skulls. I found this clasp on Etsy and thought it perfect for her. I then added the key charm to dangle from the clasp. The second one is a true charm bracelet. I used a macrame pattern to make the bracelet and then added charms that represented all of the things that are important to her. It took me months to find them all; I scoured thrift stores, flea markets and my favorite, Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe (which sadly no longer exists). Among the charms are a little school house (she's a teacher), a tiny slot machine (she loves to gamble), a dog heart charm, a flip flop (her favorite type of shoe), a bird in a cage (she has a cockatiel), an owl (her spirit totum) and I can't recall all else. OK, I'm done now! Dawn

Thank you, Irith! No worries, Dawn, there's no hogging possible in the Oldies, at least we even "encourage you to post as many items as you want"! See, you have so many more charms than I do and that makes it very hard to pick a favorite (except the dog tag bracelet, that's a no brainer). I think it will be the bracelet with the skull clasp, it's so unique with the clasp and the mixed metals, the shapes, and the key.

Thank you, Cat! That skull bracelet was fun to make. Getting all of those wire components the same was challenging, but satisfying when I managed to do it. Seeing that clasp for the first time on Etsy took my breath away and it was even more gorgeous in person. That was a good find. Dawn

I do love the second one, Irith, your items with coins always fascinate me! Not that the first piece isn't a beauty, mind you. I will leave this thread open for today and post the new challenge tomorrow

Thank you so much, Irith! Very pretty pieces from you; I don't think I've seen either of them before. I like both of them for different reasons and can't choose a favorite. Dawn
