I need some advice. Per my message on the private forum I am closing my AF studio at the end of this month. I would like to destash some of my cabs and sell them off before my studio closes.
I've photographed all of them but still need to take measurements to go with the photos. I'm thinking of selling them off in several lots rather than individually for simplicity's sake. For example - match pairs for earrings, small cabs, medium sized cabs, and my special cabs - ones that are unique and more expensive.
Do you think this is a logical approach, or am I missing something that I should be considering? In the past I've bought small lots of stones based on size or color. Color is too big of a PITA for me but size or use seems logical. I'm open to ideas...
I'm not the expert on this, but matching pairs for earrings make a lot of sense to me. The other option beside size would be shape maybe? I often like free form cabs, but don't really know what to do with them, so I go for oval, round etc.
Matching pairs sound good. I'm no expert either, I buy items that I love and can afford. Sometimes that means single pieces. Then again someone might be in the market for a trio for a cool pendant or cuff, you never know. Whatever you do, don't make it hard on yourself, use the KIS method.
Angela, glad you liked them! I'm a sucker for matched pairs, especially picture jasper which is not so easy to find matched. I so prefer making and buying one of a kind pieces so I've accumulated a lot of OOAK stones. I've nearly finished a pair of earrings with Bruneau Jasper. Somehow I haven't been able to get to the final burnish of the bezels. Need to do that :-)
