Since I'm late posting and everyone is having a hard time keeping up, we're going to keep it very simple this time. In a nod to Valentine's Day, your challenge is to make something using the colors red or pink. Your challenge pieces need to be posted to this thread by February 15, although, as always, we play pretty loosely with our deadlines. Have fun! Dawn

How very funny. I just ripped something up that has red beads and I wanted to make something in pink for my sister. Unfortunately I don't know what yet, but her birthday is end of February, so maybe that and the challenge are good incentives.

I didn't use the red beads or made something in pink, but merely by chance I am working on something in red. It's the bead color that I love so much that it will become a staple in my stash and only during working I noticed it will work for the challenge

I actually have two ideas for this challenge….

Here's my challenge piece. I used the red with metallic bronze, another favorite of mine. You could even interpret her collar as a heart. No idea where the design came from, after I had bezeled around the cab, I noticed I had made it all red, so she had to get a headdress and things just went from there. This was the first real "play item" after almost 2 1/2 months. I hadn't known how much I missed making something (somehow it felt good to make the icicle piece, but it was not the full thing, not sure how to describe it), and I'm grateful that der Dekan was tired enough to let me play for so long and slept most of the time, so I didn't have to defend my stuff too much (he still had to leave for a short while ). I even blogged because I used some really old stash for this and it happens to be Friday which has been "stash tackler" day on my blog.

Cat, you over achiever you! Not only are you posting way early, you used the challenge colors, made a heart shape, and the end result is awesome! Then you went and blogged just to add a cherry on top - my goodness! I am very impressed and I bow to your greatness. Michelle, looking forward to seeing what you are going to show us. Dawn

Oh, and there is no rule that says you can't use both ideas and submit two challenge pieces. Just sayin'... Dawn

That was a coincidence. I set myself the challenge of using some beads from a bead surprise box I bought, and decided to use all the hearts... including some pink ones, which hopefully is a good nod to the challenge theme! The large heart is a rock crystal, the pink hearts are cats eye glass beads, the lilac beads are freeform pearl beads and I added in some lapis lazuli beads as it was getting a bit to pastel for me!

I like coincidences like this one! It's lovely, Sami, and fits the challenge perfectly! The lapis is a nice idea to bring some depth into the pastel design.
I have wondered what the quartz heart was reminding me of and remembered. At a fleamarket about 45 years ago, my sister insisted on buying such a big heart, only hers was resin.

Thanks, Cat. I have to admit, I haven't known what to do with such a large heart until now! It's a bit bigger than anything I would normally choose! I guess that's the joy of a surprise bead box!

Apologies for my unprofessional pics. I haven’t quite got my picture taking system figured out in this house. But here is my challenge piece. I really wanted to do it in stainless, but this rose quartz is the smallest piece I’ve ever wrapped, and I wasn’t sure I could manage it. I have been working to make the backs prettier.
