Thank you, Irith! It's a bit smaller than what I had in the other house, but I think this attic room will work out great. I'm really looking forward to when it's a working studio. Well, ladies, I decided to go in another direction. I really did not like that pale blue. After looking at dozens of paint samples, I ended up going with green! I taped all of the samples to the wall and looked at them many times over a period of several days and finally picked "Chef's Choice" as my wall color. I'm always bemused by the names of paint colors. Among the samples, there was Feather Cactus, One in a Million, Perfect Balance, Wisdom of the Ages, Palm Island, Fair Isle, Peak of the Mountain, Pelican Hill, Spring Meadow, Misted Fern, Home on the Range, Limesicle, Sherwood Green, Saybrook Sage and Alligator Alley. They sound more like names of race horses! Ever wonder what it must be like to have a job coming up with names for paint? Dawn

Chef's Blend is nice. It has a warmth about it.
I don't mind having a job calling names for pets. Not for paints..

Thank you, Irith. I've never painted a room green before, but I think I will like it. After much thought, I decided I wanted to make my space feel like a forest clearing. I've lived in the forest most of my adult life and even now with the move, we have a forest behind our house. I feel very much at home when near trees and plants and I want to create that forest essence inside if I can. I meant to mention earlier how nice your studio sounds. Putting up the mirror to give the feeling of more space was a great idea. You and Cat prove that one doesn't need a lot of space to create beautiful work! Dawn

Green is not a bad color for a room at all if you want color. A forest feeling does sound lovely (I think it would be fun if you painted a little deer in one corner, probably because I miss hearing about them.). I'm not aware ever having seen paints with such names here, but it has been a while, so who knows?

Here we go - goodbye blue, hello green! I'm really liking this color; what do you all think? I still thinking about whether or not I'll stick with the orange trim paint, but I do think it works with the green. Dawn

Oh, yea...Cat, get out of my head! See that triangle at the peak of the ceiling? I was going to keep that as a surprise, but since you keep reading my mind, I'll go ahead and share that I'm planning to paint a forest mural in that space. I'm thinking about ferns and mushrooms, but am open to suggestions...like, say deer?... Dawn

Ooooh, I'm officially excited!! Ferns and mushrooms sound wonderful, too. Maybe just some eyes peeking out somewhere? I think we are going to need a new thread for that then, I'm reminded of the elephant bangle's and Pat's thread (I am still thinking about all the work you had with Pat and then having to throw her/him out).
Even if I liked the blue, the green is lovely and it definitely works better with the trim if you want to leave it.

Congrats for your choice Dawn. I personally prefer the Green. The only colored wall in my home is an olive green wall paper in my bedroom behind the bed. They say Green is a relaxing color for the eyes, and also as you love greenery and gardening, My opinion is it goes well with your character.
To me green and orange go well together. I have a pair of earrings with Green and Orange stones. (Aventurine and Carnelian).
Now I would love to see what you paint on that triangle on the ceiling. Maybe a fawn with beautiful eyes watching you while you create beautiful things?

Thank you so much, Irith. I really like the green and feel like it is a much better choice than the green. What do you ladies think of this? or this? or, perhaps this? The background and foreground could consist of ferns and mushrooms. Dawn

Cat, I haven't thought about Pat for quite some time. That was a really fun thread and so sad when Pat got all moldy and had to be thrown away. I wasn't expecting it to end that way! Dawn

No one expected that, Dawn! We really had fun with that one It's really hard to pick one. My favorite is probably #3 because of those amazing ears!

I'm partial to the third one as well, Cat. I think that little face would look really sweet peaking out from a bed of ferns and mushrooms. Dawn

OK, I finished with the green paint and moved on to the next step. Do you all remember the redwood lath I saved from the bathroom re-model? That is going to go on the wall with the windows. Hubby suggested that before the lath goes on, it would be a good idea to paint the wall black so that if there are any small gaps between the pieces of lath, the yellow wall won't show. Trying to use what I have instead of buying more paint, I went with the dark brown paint I used for the trim in the laundry room. When I finished painting the wall brown, hubby said he liked the contrast so much he'd be tempted to leave it just as it is! On a sunny day, it gets a bit warm upstairs. An adult beverage kept the painter cool and refreshed... Dawn

I get hubby, but I think the lath would also look beautiful and really give it that forest feel.
Cheers!
