I don't even remember how I tortured my bead recipient. I didn't have that many beads back then. Are you thinking a nice bead challenge, Dawn?

I'm not sure yet. Maybe we should have a vote - majority rules. Earring exchange? or Make something out of nice beads exchange? Dawn

Hmmmm…., they both sound fun!

They both have their own charm.
I think I like the idea of a nice bead challenge a little better, though, because it may push us out of our comfort zones depending on what we get.

Good point, Cat. Going to let this thread sit here for another day or two to see if anyone else chimes in with their preference. Dawn

Should we move this to the challenge board?
By the way, I have ripped up three cuffs, two collars, and a bead eater in the last three days. That was hard work. Now where are Bead Eaters #1 and #3? Why can't I find them? And where did I put the wide cuff? Did it run from me to escape destruction?

Maybe this should be moved to the challenge board. It’s been a long time since I did any exchanges. Remind me how these work. And, what is a “bead eater?”

Oh, sorry, bead eaters were my long bead "scarves". I called them that because they ate up a lot of beads They were like 3 feet or longer and could just be wrapped around the neck. I thought they were quite fun, but maybe people were afraid they would be too heavy (they were actually quite comfortable). For exchanges we need to pick who is going to send beads to whom (if that's what we want to do), depending on international postage. We'd set a limit, an estimated value, so everything is approximately the same and then the recipient has to make something from the beads. I changed the thread name now and moved it.

OK now. As I am usually a metalsmith and not a beader and still belong to this group here, being in the minority, I have no choice but to participate in your beading challenge fellas:)

To add to what Cat said, I think I'd simply pair people up by drawing names from a hat. Each set of partners would send beads to each other and then each of us would make something from the beads we received. Irith, I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do with beads! Dawn

Oh Irith, but you do use beads from time to time. We didn't say anything about seed beads. Not that it wouldn't be fun to see what you make from seed beads Dawn, I said "pick" because last time we also considered postage a bit and I know that US postage has quite gone up.

Thought I'd bring this thread back up - I guess we all moved on to other things. Michelle is very busy with her move right now and the holidays will soon be upon us. What do you all think about re-visiting this challenge idea in January? Dawn
