Oh, by the way, I'm quite far with my beach piece. I just have to decide on a bail/chain which is actually the hardest part, though.

Yes, waiting too long can definitely cause difficulty in making a second matching earring (been there). That's why we end up with so many pendants! Dawn

Good for you, Cat. Get it done early and then you no longer have to think about it. Dawn

So how's that coming along, Michelle?
I hope I will get my third bead order soon (I even paid postage this time, the lady must think I'm an unorganized idiot, and right she is), so I can finish my beach piece.

Still in my head, Cat! LOL! But I’ve just about finished the new piece I’ve been working on, so soon.

I went the easy way with this one ... beach -> shells -> pearls. A co-worker gave me a bunch of shells a few years ago and I chose this one. I had seed beads in just the right colors, so I decided to keep the bezel "invisible" except for one contrast row. I got the pearls in a destash and thought they would be perfect to add a bit of movement. I haven't taken a picture on the manikin yet or you would see that they bunch up nicely when hanging down. Fun fact - this is bead embroidery and since the shell is obviously only glued to the stiff stuff around the edges, it makes a nice sound when I tap the ultrasuede back with my finger

Really beautiful and I love how the toggle also features pearls.

Cat, I have to apologize to you for being so late leaving a comment. I haven't been paying a lot of attention to this thread because, well, ya know. I love what you have created. The way you placed the shell is like looking into a vortex that pulls me in further and further the more I look. The pearl dangles and the pearl toggle a wonderful touches that carry on the beach theme. It's a beautiful piece of beach art! Dawn

Wanna tell me about moving again, Dawn, or can't you handle the fact how quick I was? Seriously, though, thank you! Thank you for the topic as well because I hadn't admired the beauty of this shell in a while, and now that you've said it, I see the vortex, too.

OK, I'll tell you. We're almost done, thank heavens! Repairs, painting and cleaning are nearing the end. We're going to take one last load to the new house tomorrow and hopefully finish up next week. Meeting with a real estate agent on Saturday who was recommended by the agent who sold us the new house. We are also taking today off cuz we need a down day to just chill and relax. I'm so looking forward to life getting back to normal again, but all this work is going to be sooooo worth it! I'm glad you can see the vortex too. I wasn't sure how else to describe it, but looking into that shell is the most interesting sensation. Dawn

You are going to be so bored once all that moving stuff is over! I think vortex was a good description. Maybe that's what drew me in when I went through my shells to pick one.

Well...I still have months of unpacking ahead of me! Took me ten different tries to organize the kitchen and I'm still not sure it's the way I want it. Dawn
