Dear all,
I just had the best time going through some of the oldies but goodies threads on the work showing page, and so I wanted to come write a thread here to say THANK YOU. Every single one of each of your pieces is so amazing! I found my jaw actually, in real life dropping. I'm afraid that I won't have much to contribute, as a) I don't really have a stash of made pieces, and b) my standard is nowhere near that high, but I hope you won't mind me logging in sometimes and looking at your beautiful pieces, and saying how much I love them. I feel so inspired and humbled and genuinely moved by how incredible some of them were, and blown away, both by your work and by how lovely you all are, to each other and to newcomers. It's an honour and a privilege to have come across your community!

Thank you! I said it elsewhere, we love to see new things. When I first came to the predecessor of this forum, my only experiences had been from more than 20 years before, they were tangling thread on a kid's loom after two rows and a few simple polymer clay pieces. Not sure you want to count stringing cheap seed beads into chains when I was about 13. And I just had started to crochet with wire. Since then I added a few techniques to my book, thanks to these guys who always encouraged me to make and show my stuff We'd love to encourage you, too. If you find inspiration, all the better, but I find that usually goes both ways Glad to have you around!

I think that this is one of the kindest internet forums or indeed groups of people I have ever come across. Thank you. All right, I shall post the thing I made just before Christmas in Show and Tell! It actually fits a currently open Oldie but Goodie, so perhaps I'll put it there.

Please don't be put off coming in and sharing what you are doing. We have all been in the position of being a bit overawed by someone. We love seeing new pieces of all levels and this is a safe place to share and get help and tips if you want it.

First, let me just say that I am sorry to have missed this thread when it was first posted. I've been a bit distracted lately. Now, please, please, please don't ever be shy about participating in our challenges or sharing your work on our Show and Tell forum. All of us were new to this at one time and if it hadn't been for the encouragement of others, I never would have continued to learn and grow and to be where I am now. And, I still have so much to learn. Our stated mission here is to help and support other jewelry artists to learn new skills and techniques, to share our knowledge and to cheer each other on. If you stick with this, you will find that the hand crafted jewelry community is very generous in sharing what they know with each other and we welcome those who are new to this wonderful world with open arms. I will step down off the soapbox now and take a moment to thank you very much for your wonderfully kind words regarding the jewelry we make and about the forum itself. It was very nice of you to take the time to start a thread and share your impressions. So very often, we never hear what we are doing right, but we sure hear about it when we make a mistake, and it does my heart good to read a post such as yours. You are welcome to participate in this forum on whatever level makes you feel comfortable, but please know that if you decide to share your work or request a critique or have a question, no one here will ever ever be unkind to you or make you feel less than those who have more experience. Dawn

I believe the way each of us has started to make jewelry was first by making one piece, then another, until one day we realized we have a collection!
I remember my very first pieces. They were made with Polymer clay and beads... I hope we will inspire you to begin with one or two of the things you have created. I always find there is something to watch and learn even from people who have just begun.
