I love flea markets. Sometimes I find old jewelry that is cheap and hardly anyone pays attention to it. Here is a pair of earrings which were dark without stones which lied around for quite a few years in a box with "perhaps one day I will do something with it" pieces. Last month I found them, soldered bezels on them, and set round garnet cabochons in the bezels. The result is a pair of short demure earrings with an antique/vintage effect.

Those earrings are fabulous, Irith! So pretty! How cool that you found the “frames” in a flea market.

Thank you Michelle, I have an idea of creating a collection with the antique base. I will see..

Oh, Irith! I love those and I love the story of how they came to be. You took something that had been rejected and neglected and turned it into something beautiful. Count me in as another who likes to salvage old jewelry. Many of my pieces contain what used to be old broken jewelry parts and I have a drawer full of pieces and parts waiting for inspiration to strike. How I would love to go flea market shopping with you! Dawn

They are beautiful, Irith! It's wonderful to be able to change something old into something new again. I wish I could use more parts, but for me it's mostly stones or beads that I can re-use due to my favorite techniques.
