I'm new to making jewelry and need advice on what findings I need to close a choker made of velvet ribbon. 3/8th inch ribbon. Thanks!

The easiest way would be ribbon crimps. They have little loops to which you can attach chain and whatever clasp you like, toggle, lobster clasp, an S hook (with a big enough jumpring for the last two) ... They come under different names, but ribbon crimp is frequently used to describe them.
Here's a short video that may help you, I randomly picked one from YouTube.

Thanks! I will try to remember to do that. In the meantime maybe you can help me with my settings. I'm not getting emails stating that you have responded. I checked to get instant email when a new post. Should I also do the same for new threads?

There's a button in the upper right corner that is showing you if there are new replies in a thread you participated in. If a thread is very old, that button sometimes doesn't show the "new", but that's very rare. The button should be turned on by default in your settings. "Show Participated Displays the participated button next to the navigation tree. Yes No" If you prefer an email if a thread you participated in is updated, you can check that in the notifications. Participated A thread you have participated in is updated. "Forum" should be ticked off by default, but you can also receive the instant emails like you did for new posts. If you want to check the last threads in which you have participated or not without getting an email, there's "recent posts" at the bottom which gives you a list sorted by date with the latest one being on top. I hope that helps
