I don't know if Catweazle was even popular in the USA or elsewhere, but this British sorcerer who has been thrown from the 12th into the 20th century (in a British 70s TV show) was very popular in Germany. So popular that I found out when I was looking for a link that they just finished filming a German remake, a movie. I have always been a fan.

Very cool brooch! And I am not familiar with Catweazle, but he looks like quite a character! And I need to learn to do a beaded bezel! I’ll be poking around YouTube....

Thank you, Michelle! What we loved about Catweazle was the way he explored that century and what he called things. He called electricity electrickery and telephone a telling bone. We probably drove adults nuts by using his words all the time and wanting a toad for a familiar like he had. This is bead embroidery, by the way, a beaded bezel with an additional row of crystals - I love this color - and a row of seed beads that hide the edge of the stiff stuff you stitch on and the backing. Have fun browsing YouTube!

Oh those word substitutions are hilarious! I can really see the appeal. If you have any YouTube recommendations for beaded bezels, don’t be shy!

Oh, there are so many. I actually did my first one with help of a German page with illustrations which doesn't exist anymore, but I printed them out back then. You could try this for example to get started www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZs0FnPOkd0

Thank you, Dawn!
I see I haven't said here that this is one of those button badges from the old days. The hardest part was dealing with the back because I wanted to use the original pin.

I am not sure I like this Catweazle guy very much, but the bead work I like a lot.
