I started making a very small pattern for a quick project, so I'll have at least something if I run out of time

I'm either out or I'll be late. I made a mistake in the last two rows that I couldn't rip up, so I cut it up completely. Now that I've tried two twice, I'm not feeling like a third attempt at the moment *eyeroll* You know how I am with repeating stuff

Oh no! Let's say you'll be late; heaven knows I've been late enough times over the years. We don't want to miss out on seeing your design, Cat! Regarding my submission, needless to say, I didn't get anything done while we were on the coast last week, but I have made good progress the past two days. I hope to finish what I am working on today and post it tomorrow. Heck, if things go well, maybe I'll get it posted later today, but don't hold your breath! Dawn

It's nothing exciting, Dawn, but it's in peyote which is not my favorite technique. To put it very, very nicely, I was miffed.

I have no doubt that whatever you make will be special and lovely. That the peyote stitch isn't your favorite is part of what will make this a challenge for you... Dawn

Attempt #3 -> had to rip up several rows because I grabbed a wrong bead -> had to rip up several rows again because I forgot a color
This thing is so small, it's not really worth it *huge eyeroll*

That was well worth the wait - seconding, Michelle, that is awesome! However, I do understand your frustration in grabbing the wrong bead, leaving out a color, etc. It is so maddening when that happens and usually a stupid mistake caused by being either too tired or simply sick of working on the project. I admire you for sticking with it, Cat! Dawn

Here is mine ~ I used a circle cutter I have to make two paper discs that measure 1.25 inches across. Then I drew on the little ghosts with a black felt pen. I stuck Halloween stickers on the backs just for some additional visual interest. Then I started to seal them with a mix of white glue and water and realized that I had not used the permanent marker and little ghosts turned into a smeared mess. Back to the drawing board - starting to feel like Cat here! Cut out more discs, did the drawing again, managed to peel the sticker of the first discs and used a glue stick to attach them to the backs because the sticker were no longer sticky. Feeling like Cat again! Once I got all that done, I held my breath while I sealed them and this time the drawings did not run. Yay for little victories! After a couple of coatings on each side and letting it all dry for a few days, it was time to apply resin. Rather than mix up a batch of resin, I opted to use a product called Glossy Accents. It's a product used by scrap bookers and while it's like resin, it hardens faster and isn't quite so brittle. And, I could use just what I needed rather than wasting expensive resin. So, I applied the Glossy Accents, put a small plastic container over the discs to keep dust our and went about my business. A few hours later, I came back to check on them and they looked great. I picked one up and...OMG, it wasn't even close to dry and I left a big thumb print on the Trick or Treat side! Really, feeling like Cat now! Ugh, no time to make anything else so I put it back down and left it overnight. Many times resin will self heal itself when something like this happens and that's what I was hoping for. By morning, they were dry enough to pick up, but still flexible. While my thumb print was mostly gone, there was a little bit of a blemish left behind, but no matter. You can't see it and I'm not planning to sell these. I'm not sure why the Glossy Accents took so long to dry. I'm guessing it's because the product is past it's shelf life (I've had it a long time) or because it was pretty cold in the house that day. Or, some combination of the two. Who knows; but it's always been a great product and I'm sure this was just a weird deal. Anyway, today I drilled the holes and went to put silver jump rings in them and attach the ear wires. However, my silver jump rings are no where to be found! This is very strange as they are always in a small jar in the revolving spice rack that I use for my findings. The jar is there, but there are no jump rings in it even though it usually contains several small plastic bags full of various sized rings. I finally found some 17g jump rings that I used even though they are much thicker than the 20g I wanted to use. As soon as I get a minute, I'll have to launch a search for my jump rings. I have no idea where they've gone, but I know for a fact that I am not out of jump rings. Maybe a Halloween trick is being played on me!?!?!!?? Anyway, if you've read through all of the above, thank you for sticking with me and here are the earrings... Dawn

First, thank you, Michelle and Dawn! Dawn, I was serious when I said in my post that a friend cheered me on. Without you I would probably have thrown this into a corner!
Second, Dawn, kudos to you for sticking with it. Now that you know all the traps that come with this kind of earrings, this opens up quite the possibilities for future projects, especially for someone who can draw like you. The ghosts are so cute! Maybe the smeared ghosts took the jump rings ...

Cat, thank you for both things: letting me know that I was of help to you and for saying nice things about my earrings. You're right. Aside from all the problems I had, it was a fun project and I can see all kinds of possibilities. Watch for similar styles in the future. Hmmmmmmm...maybe that is where the jump rings went. Darn ghosts, I still haven't found the rings! Dawn

Those earrings are really cute, Dawn! Ugh, I’m sorry you had so many problems. All of my jewelry projects have been like that lately.

It's the smeary ghosts, Michelle. They are causing mischief for everyone... And, thank you for the kind words! Dawn
