I finished my sneakers. Those were a lot of hours. I had said I wouldn't make another pair, but now I think I should try a different design eventually, with some shoes that I can open up which should make work on them a lot easier. We'll see I'm just happy now that I actually made it!

Cat! Those are so amazing and cool! Will you wear them or will they be on display? WOWIE!
I've seen heavily beaded sneakers, moccasins, and shoes for hundreds of dollars! It's understandable that they would be so expensive, given the amount of time spent on them. You may have created a niche for yourself!
Bead on!

Thank you, Gayle and Caroline! Gayle, they will be mostly be display or "sitting" shoes, but as I'm more or less stuck in here, I don't really have to worry about that. I also don't see myself ever making something like this for sale. They would have to be custom orders and you know how much I dislike doing those My business is dead thanks to Covid, anyway, which is also why I don't have any good reason to make jewelry at the moment. Caroline, after the bad start when I lost four rather quickly, it was six in the end. Number 6 is still alive, but so very crooked now!

Soooooo pretty! I am tempted to at least consider making a pair for myself - which would involve buying shoes and bugle beads. I left a comment on your blog through a different browser. Hopefully, it worked!

I LOVE those! They turned out beautifully. I especially like what you did with the fronts; the beadwork reminds me of waterfalls. Honestly, they belong in an art gallery - wonderfully done, Cat! Dawn

It worked, Michelle, and thank you! Like I wrote in the reply, if you want to try it, don't use the slipper kind. There are about 50, if not 60 hours in this pair and I really think I would have been able to save quite some time if it hadn't been so awkward to work in some of the spots.
Thank you very much, Dawn! It's interesting what they remind people of. Some have mentioned Van Gogh's "Starry Night" because of the colors and a co-worker asked me today if I had make them look like book shelves on purpose. After she said that I saw what she meant, many colorful book spines if you looked at them from the right angle.
I just bid on a pair of sneakers on eBay and have bookmarked another ...

These sneakers should be displayed in an art museum! Excellent work!

Do some multi-colored beads! You could do them on white sneakers. I'm thinking of a rainbow mix.
I adore beaded items and these shoes are so awesome! I keep looking at them and marveling at your skill, Cat.

Thank you, Irith!
You are sweet, Gayle. The pair I bid on (ends this afternoon)is denim. I avoid buying white sneakers. I haven't decided yet what kind of beads I'll use or if there will be a pattern or just freestyle.

I got the sneakers. The difference between them and the other pair is that there are no seams like the vertical ones and no logo on the sides. I hope that will leave me a bit more space for playing.
