Well, I’m weird. I’ve never been attracted to anyone on the basis of their appearance. I notice handsome men and pretty women, the way someone would notice a piece of art. I have to know someone before I develop any attraction. That said, I thought my husband was quite handsome in his American Airlines pilot uniform. 😄
That I understand, Michelle. In that conversation we talked about suits also being a kind of uniform (just as jeans and t-shirts could be, James Dean inspired). My ex looked fabulous in a suit. I don't think I would have been attracted to him because of the suit, though.
One point was of course calendars of firemen with puppies, but frankly, I'd prefer men in t-shirts and jeans with kittens (lmao)
I wouldn't say that I'm especially attracted to men in uniform, but I do think that men in uniform usually look quite spiffy. It's as if, because they are going to be in uniform, they take extra care with the rest of their appearance and hygiene.
That said, I do have a special place in my heart for men in fire fighting uniforms. I'm going to guess that's because they are looked at as heros where I live in the heart of wildfire country. When there is a fire burning nearby, they come from all over the state and country to help and the sight of out of town firetrucks rolling into town filled with firefighters makes everyone breathe a sigh of relief. They are always super nice and friendly too.
Dawn, I appreciate firefighters and think they are doing an amazing job! I just don't think they are sexy because of their uniform and never understood those jokes. Actually I think it's a bit degrading. Now if it's for charity and people like those calendars, they should go ahead and buy them, but I wouldn't hang one up myself.
I think men in uniform look nice, but it's more what it represents, than the actual uniform for me. When I see men (or women, for that matter) in uniform, I associate it with a sense of responsibility and duty, as well as caring about others. Those attributes appeal to me more than the appearance.
It's also that much more disappointing when I see people in uniforms behaving badly.
