When I was young, newly married and poor, I was an avid coupon clipper. I never set foot in a grocery store without a fistful of coupons and often walked out having saved $5-10, which was a lot of money to me back then.
Now, I'm older and more financially secure but I still like to clip and use coupons. No longer do I clip a coupon that will save me five cents, but just yesterday I had a coupon for half off of a large pizza and I was happy to use it. Our local grocery store puts out a calendar each year that includes coupons for each month. The July coupon was for two pints of free ice cream. You can bet I redeemed that one. A couple of months ago, I used a coupon for a free deodorant. I didn't need deodorant at the time, but that's a product that doesn't go bad so into the cupboard the it went until the time comes that I do need it.
How about you? Are you a clipper or are coupons too much bother?

I use coupons when retailers make it easy for me. I do my grocery shopping online these days, and often the website has a box to “clip a coupon” right next to the item I am adding to the cart. I always take advantage of those. I don’t even receive a paper newspaper from which to clip actual coupons now. Both papers that I read are online subscriptions.
I occasionally use coupons. My problem is that I can never remember to put them in my purse when I go shopping.
The grocery store I go to has an online thingy where you load up your coupons to your account and then use them in the checkout by typing your telephone number and secret code into a terminal. Unfortunately, the stuff I buy rarely has a coupon to go with it and besides, I'm not organized enough to know exactly what I'm going to buy. It's a PITA!!!
Once a month I receive an envelope in the mail with a large page full of coupons from the supermarket. They have a date limit. I keep it in my shopping bag because I use many of the items every now and then. What happens is that when I get to the store, I just forget to use it. Of course I remember only after I have reached home.
