I need advice ladies! A few months back I tried this sewn bead earring. (Is there a better term for that?) Anyway, it became apparent that I had needed to pull the thread tighter. But I am also wondering about ending off. After having me weave the thread through the beads several times, the pattern just had me cut the thread at the end. I didn’t have a lot of faith in that. Am I wrong?

So pretty, Michelle! Can you somehow glue the end?

I usually tie a small knot, pull it into a bead, then weave through a couple more beads and cut the thread. The weaving method works pretty well as long as you make sure to zig-zag in different directions.
I have also used a thread burner, if the thread is a plastic product.

Glue is a possibility, Gayle. Thanks! And Carole, I can see where a knot in among the ending would work. I’lol have to check out s thread burner. The thread is nylon. I think that would work.
So I appreciate the advice. I’ve been ignoring this project, and I realized that I just wasn’t happy with leaving the end completely unsecured.

I haven't done this type of work, but I agree with you that I'd want something more secure than some weaving. I'd go with the knot as suggested by Carole. I wouldn't think it would be difficult to hide it either by additional weaving or by pulling it into a bead hole. Those are pretty, Michelle. Good luck solving your dilemma! Dawn

Thanks so much, Dawn! I love playing with beads, and it seems imperative to increase the challenge. 😝

I'm late to the party, but Carole already gave you the perfect answer You can just call it a beaded earring, by the way. I'm looking forward to seeing more beading from you!

Yup, a couple of knots a few beads apart will do the trick.
