In my quest to make my life easier, I stumbled across this fantastic and simple tutorial for making ear wires. It is so simple, so quick and so obvious, I was like "why the heck didn't I think of this!?! ?? Before I give you the link, here is a pic of the first pair of ear wires I made using this method. Now, I know you are all dying to try this, so here is the link: Perfect Ear Wires Every TimeIf you do try this, please post your ear wires here so everyone else can see how easy they are and how perfectly they turned out! My pleasure, Michelle! Cat, I am still banging my head on my desk! I meant to mention in my original post, that more and more, I'm making my own ear wires and head pins when I can. These components, especially ear wires, have become so expensive that I just can't afford to buy them in the volume that I use. Up until I found this tutorial, I dreaded making ear wires because it was so hard to get them exactly the same. Now it's a piece of cake! Dawn

I love making ear wires, but dread making the earrings going with them!

HaHa! Isn't that funny! We should collaborate - you make the wires and I'll make the earrings! Dawn

Hey ladies, I usually make my own ear wires. Why didn't you ask me? I would have told you right away:) Small advice - after finishing the ear wires, hammer them very gently. Hammering makes them stronger (well, this is true with regard to Sterling Silver, I guess it could be the same with other metals).

I have been making my own ear wires for a while, too. I always do them individually, though, not connected at first like this!

Yes, with the wire connected, that's what makes it possible to make a pair of identical wires without having to fiddle with them. And, very quickly too! I'm glad to be in such good company of people who make their own ear wires! Dawn
