Well, if someone is unable to appreciate handcrafted items, then it is best not to sell to him or her. Best to leave so to many others who are able to appreciate it. It's really not just about the little sum of money from that transaction, but about enjoying the art by the buyer and joy of seller knowing his craft will be enjoyed by the buyer.

Not all sellers can sell to many others and a "little sum" can be a big one for some sellers. Unfortunately it often means that people give up doing what they love. We have seen it more than once here in the forum.

Making jewelry can be quite an expensive endeavor, and for many, selling their creations is how people fund their jewelry making hobby, while others are trying to make a living selling what they make. It's hard to walk away from a sale even when the buyer doesn't appreciate or understand what has gone into designing and creating artisan jewelry. Even someone like me, who does understand the work and time that goes into designing jewelry, will balk at the higher price points. It's not that I don't appreciate the craftsmanship, but if something is beyond my budget, cost is something I have to consider when making purchasing decisions. Dawn
