Hi, I'm new to this community, but I am seeking help. For some reason I cannot saw straight! I constantly am going to the left, and my blades are breaking, and when I undo my blade it curves badly to the left. I don't think I had this problem before, though I am relatively new to metalsmithing. If I was curving this badly I couldn't have made the pieces I've made! Is it my technique or my saw???
Same saw? After having watched the DVD "Metalsmith essentials" with Helen Driggs last week it is probably technique. Have a look at Youtube. You will probably find videos to help you there. I am not an expert and found her advice useful as I still have wiggly lines.

Thanks, I've watched some but I am not sure about hers. I asked my husband to saw a line (he has never sawed metal before) to see if it was me or the saw. He sawed a perfectly straight line the first time. pfttttt. I scooted my chair back and changed my focus and took a deep breath and did much better!

I was once told 'Become one with the saw'
I know kind of cliche - but serioulsy - you are just guiding the saw. You don't want to put any kind of pressure or force behind it AT ALL. You will break your blade EVERYTIME. Relax, get comfy, don't rush (my biggest problem sometimes), and 90 degree angle!!
