I have a new cell phone, a Samsung Galaxy 5. It takes great pictures, but I am having trouble posting them to the forum. I downloaded the pictures to my laptop, imported them into Photoshop Elements and reduced them to 2". This is what I do with all the pictures from my camera. Yet when I try to load the pictures here, I get an error message that says the file is too big. Any ideas on what I could do to make these pictures shareable?
Thanks,
Carole

I have had the same problem with my iPhone. I'll watch this space for potential help.

What I can tell you is that the forum doesn't allow attachments bigger than 1 MB. We have limited storage space which gets eaten up quickly by big pictures (which is why I encourage using photo sharing sites to link from there instead of attaching pictures).
What I can't tell you is if your pictures actually are bigger than 1 MB and if that is in fact the problem.

I'm not sure how to downsize in my phone-or if that's a possibility.

Right click on the photo while in Windows explorer and check the properties. The properties will show what size it is. Then go back to your editor and reduce it some more. Then check it again. My smart phone will crop and do some effects but I don't see any way to reduce the size or check properties.

I aksed hubby, he has an iPhone, and he didn't know either. All I know is to download them to my MAC. I open my photo's in Pixelmator, export them to .jpg and there you can say how much % you want to safe. You can see at the % slide how many mb's the photo will be after saving. I'm not sure if Pixelmator also works in windows. But there are several online converters for you to choose from.

Pixelmator? I will have to check that out, Carina.
Ever since MAC changed their photo program out of iPhoto, I'm lost.

I have iPhoto and Photos. I tried Photos and didn't like it, so I looked with my applications and iPhoto was still there. Hubby says i must have a bought version of iPhoto, but I can't remember buying it. Maybe iPhoto is still in your application folder too.

Hmmmm. I've never looked, Carina. On my way there, as we speak! I'll let you know what I find.
Okay...edited to add that it's there in my application folder. I'm not sure what to do with it, as there's a pop-up message about iphoto and photo I don't quite understand. I'm afraid to touch and maybe break something!

Photos is a major PITA. I HATE it. My iphoto is gone. How I wish I could get it back. Why Apple took something that was so simple and made it so complicated, I don't know. What I've done to get size smaller is way too much trouble. I export the picture from photos, go to finder, click on the photo to open it in preview, click on tools at top, there is an adjust size drop down, I just make the file 50% of what it exported as. Then you have to export it again in the smaller size. iphoto gave you the option to export in small, medium, or large without going through all of those ridiculous steps. One of these days I'm going to the Apple store and ask one of those little whippersnappers that work there, if there is an easier way.

Thank you for the tip.

"You can open it in iPhoto, but any changes such as editing or adding new photos will not appear in the Photos app." This is what I get when I double click on iPhoto. Thanks, Carina, for any help you can give me. Like Michele, I hate the new Photos application.
