I can't resist posting this because it's my second attempt in polymer clay after more than three years. The first attempt for something else went oh so wrong, maybe because the clay was so old and brittle.

Great work on this Edgar Allan Poe's portrait! I would have recognized it anywhere!I have some polymer clay too somewhere. It is over ten years old now. I guess I won't have any use for it anymore.

Thank you so much, Irith When I saw that I needed to make a few things in clay, I looked for information about old clay. One lady said that she had clay she couldn't use anymore after a rather short time, but that she also had some that was ten years old and worked fine. I definitely didn't store my open packs right, the one I used here was a new pack and it worked like a charm (pun intended ). It gives me hope that my next project will work better once I get some new clay in the color I need.

The portrait is fabulous and the addition of the raven charm is genius. Kudos for an unique piece.

Thank you, ladies!
An FB friend already told me which portrait I should do next and I started playing with the pattern.

Awesome work, Cat. The portrait alone is amazing; by adding the clay raven you've outdone yourself - AGAIN! Your creativity is incredible. Dawn

It always amazes me how much detail you get into so few rows of loom-work. I know just how much time it takes to make these and I have to say bravo Cat. So who is going to be next.?

Definitely a winner either with or without the clay. But then what else would we expect. From what I understand as long as poly clay is stored properly it's good but some batches are often not good right from the package. More clay!!! You could always check the "Glass Attic" to see if there's an answer there.

Thank you, Caroline! Actually I am already working on the next pattern (weekend, yay!). I'll say just as much, it won't be a geeky portrait this time. When people hear that I use a program for transferring pictures, they think all the pattern work is already done, but you and I know that that is not true and that patterns need cleaning up and color changes and often optimization of the original as well. The little black and white portraits like to come out in matte purple and mauve! Thank you, Sue I doubt I'll ever be getting back into clay big time, but it's useful for charms like these or ... nope, that's still a secret until I know if it works out
