Okay, probably not the best use. For a year or so I've had to adjust that miserable float ball after each flush; it rotates and the tank fills way too high and water trickles, etc. Finally got a new-type inside but the hook on chain from the flapper valve was too large. (Cheap double wide with non-standard parts.) Sat in chair for a while and it hit me: I have a stash of anodized aluminum rings that would fit the lift arm slot perfectly. Flush works! Yeah, may have to replace them but then I've been doing the adjusting thing for a while and I have a LOT of these rings.

As long as I don't have to wear a mullet 'cos I don't do mullets. Yup, knots and rings. Now I understand why previous owner had one flush all tied together with rubber bands.
