...in countless steps. Sophy had asked for some PhotoShop help in editing her pics. Then I remembered a thread from a very old board about improving photos for Etsy, ArtFire, etc. And then it occurred to me that newbies here might benefit from some of the information. Wayyy back then there were no iPads or camera phones that took great pics and some folks were even scanning their work.
So I thought the best place to start was where we took our photos. I have three places depending on how lazy I am and where the available light is (and if it's winter and the room where my home made light box isn't heated).
So, first is my home made light box, made from a box, a shower curtain, white paper and daylight fixtures.
And yes, this was PhotoShopped to brighten it up. And there's my trusty tripod.
Next is the kitchen table. Best in the summer with white paper. I have a composite pic that hopefully shows an edited image and an image that lightened the highlights, brightened the middle shades and deepened the shadows (as we all know that a photo consists of light, both all white, mid-tones, and shadows; don't we?).
This was actually two separate photos combined in a very quick and dirty action.
And, lastly, for when I'm really lazy: my lap! My cat Sneakers was on it and she's so warm and snug right now I didn't have the heart to move her. I usually put a sheet of white paper on a knee, set camera to macro and shoot.
Yup, had to set camera to regular light bulb light and macro for this.
All photos were sized in PhotoShop using the "image" drop down menu although these images were from Photobucket where you can also edit for size. 500 pixels seem to work fine for images on this forum; any more and you get a huge pic you need to use your cursor to move the bars on the bottom and side (can't think of technical term right now).
