This week's Oldies but Goodies Theme Challenge is FAVORITES OF 2023. Which have been your personal favorites this year? We have done that since 2018, only missing one year. Go through your stash and post a picture in this thread that pertains to the theme. It can be something you made yesterday or something you made five years ago. We encourage you to post as many items as you want. Can't make it much simpler. We hope to see a lot of creative pics of your 2023 FAVORITES jewelry. We'd love to have more members participate in this easy, fun challenge. Won't you join us? The Oldies but Goodies Challenges will last two weeks, so you have enough time to share your items! To make it easier, the end date is in the subject now.

I'll get this started. Obviously I made 55 pieces to sell (more than I had thought), obviously all the calendar items and four dolls all in all. It's not easy picking personal favorites. The chickens are definitely among them and the octopuses, but I chose the cat moth and the moon hare and the crocodile's eye. I sure did a lot bead embroidery this year.

Excellent choices, Cat. Your embroidered work is beautiful and definitely should be among your favorites. The are some of my favorites too! Dawn

I started playing around with a soldering iron this year and it has opened up an entire new world for me. Because of this, my favorites this year are some of the soldered pieces I've made. I do have a question related to soldering that I'm going to post at the metal smithing board. It's not about "how to" as much as it is defining what soldering actually means. You'll see when you read my question. Anyway, here are my favorites of 2023: I chose this one because it is the very first soldered piece that I made and it was such a proud moment when I finished it. As time went on and I learned more, I challenged myself to more difficult designs. Dawn

This isn't really a favorite piece, but I'm pretty darn proud of this clasp even though I can't seem to get a decent photo of it. 'K, I'm done now. Dawn

It's an amazing journey you're on! While I love all of your soldered pieces, this time I can easily pick a favorite. I'm really in love with that seahorse.

Cat, these are amazing pieces! 55 creations. Wow! You had a lot to choose from.
Dawn, your soldering skills are growing by leaps and bounds. I must admit my favorites are the geckos. But only by a sliver.

My jewelry creation was minimal at best in 2023. But I did make a few things. Here are my favorites: Although this one is simple, I find that I wear it a lot.

Thank you, Michelle! Your pieces are so beautiful and so different! One a dark, subtle beauty and the other one a hot color bomb that I don't see anything simple about. You have shapes, texture, color, contrast

Thanks so much, Michelle! I just love soldering (there I said the "s" word!)!! What you lacked in quantity you made up for in quality. Those are beautiful pieces. I love the moon and stars; it has a dreamy dramatic feel that I find quite appealing. The red piece is bursting with color and I can imagine it's a mood booster. It's a funny thing about the simpler pieces, those are the ones I find myself wearing the most often. Dawn
