My name is Michelle and I have an addiction. I got out my earring stones today. As you can see I have a thing for malachite. When I bought these, I had plans to wire wrap most of them, but my hands just don’t have any control over the wire now. So bead embroidery it is!

She has dark wavy hair, so I think they will look nice on her. Yesterday the terror was back in kitten mode, he kept running and pawing at my fan wall portraits (poor Margarete Steiff still isn't back up there) and trying to knock over stuff for hours, from 7 to well after noon. I'm too old for that, now that he's getting everywhere to spread the chaos, lol. After that, though, he was knocked out pretty much for hours and very cuddly.
Thank you, Michelle!

Temperatures have dropped quickly, we got quite a bit of rain (which is good), but going from needing a fan to being tempted to turn the heater on in one week is a bit much. Anyhow, fall is here, so I finally went back into my Delica stash and made some rolled up fall leaf earrings.

Why, Michelle, look at that stash - I do believe you've been holding out on us! Very much looking forward to seeing what you do with those beauties. Cat, I've got this great mental picture in my head of der Daken wearing you and himself out! Those rolled up fall leaves are gorgeous. You are putting the rest of us to shame, Ms. Over Achiever! Dawn

Michelle, I completely missed that picture! Beautiful pairs. I really hear you about the wire, isn't it nice that bead embroidery came to the rescue? I don't even think I could choose a pair from the stones, though! Thank you, Dawn I finished another fall pair last night with the same bead mix. I'm so determined to use more of the different mookaite beads that I got in a destash. One day later and I have a picture. Silver lined beads are even harder to photograph in this light tent although they are never easy.

So pretty, Cat. I'm loving the fall colors you are using and that's a really fun design. I think you have become comfortable with making earrings! Dawn

Thank you, Dawn I think I rather felt challenged by you, lol. It's mere luck that I actually had a few ideas, but isn't it weird how different they all are. A pair all in wire is still missing, but I'm with Michelle on this, my hands are probably not up to it. I was surprised that I managed the components between tubes and earwires, it wasn't easy, though.

I'm sorry that both of you are having hand trouble - makes it so difficult to do certain things. I was really beginning to worry about my hands until I started using the exercise ball. What a difference it made! While my show offy pieces are usually pendants, I really enjoy making earrings precisely because there are so many different ways to make them. One can get as creative as they wish or they can choose to keep it simple. Dawn

So I shared my earring stones, then went a different direction. Ha! Leather. I have been noticing women wearing leather earrings. They are large and showy, but often plain. So of course, I thought I could do better. LOL! So I ordered some pre-cut leather pieces. I used this cream pair to start because they are my least favorite. I figured if I ruined them, it would be no great loss. (I’ve taken to hanging the earrings I make for me on the hoops I wear 24/7 (shown below) but if I were making them for someone else, I’d add ear wires.) I didn’t really have any idea how to finish the backs. I thought about an oval decorative piece of cloth glued over the stitching, and really haven’t come up with any thing better. I did put superglue over the thread. Not very fancy, but it’s a start!

I love those, Michelle! They are elegant, classy and modern. Adding the pearlescent stones to the cream leather was brilliant. And, they'll go with anything, any color, any time of day and pretty much any event. I see them being very versatile. As far as the backs go, if you had another set of the same color leather cutouts, could you glue them to the backs? Then you'd have the patterned leather on both sides. Great job! Dawn

Thanks so much, Dawn! I don’t have another pair, but that’s a great idea! They wouldn’t even have to be two the same. They would be reversible! Brilliant! Now to research best glue for leather.

Lovely! I know a lady who has a lot of faux leather in all kinds of patterns and cuts it into different shapes with her Cricut (Michelle, if you go to the JAD's sale group on FB, she often has some on offer there, her name is Cheryl) and combines them with all kinds of charms.
I have another idea for a design and the backs that would change the look, though, and I don't know if it would work. I have some faux leather that I haven't used yet, maybe I'll give it a try.

Faux leather! Another excellent idea. I do have a Cricut - although I’ve yet to put it through its paces. I’ll check out the JAD group more thoroughly. I am eager to see what you come up with.

Now I'm excited to see what you do with the backs, Michelle! Inquiring minds would like to know - what is this JAD group of which you both speak? Dawn

It's a sales group on FB, Dawn, one of the two where I'm posting most. JAD's has been looking for guest sellers for October, I think, but I have no idea if Anika already filled all the slots.
