Hi! Thank you for welcoming me to the group. I’m just coming back to making and learning to make jewellery after an 8 year break, and I’ve been learning wire wrapping for about a month now. I attempted my own pendant design after several projects out of Abby Hook’s book “Wire Jewelry Masterclass”. The pendant adapts one of her designs. I wondered if I could get some feedback on it as I feel like my heart is missing something, please? Thank you!

It looks great the way it is. How long did it take you to make?

Hello and welcome to the forum! I don't think your heart is missing something. I actually like the open look which lets the bead star (is it dumortierite?) Very impressive for just starting a month ago!

Hi and welcome! I think it looks great just the way it is. I honestly really do. But, you are the designer and if you feel like it's missing something, I could suggest that you add a dangle to hang from the bottom of the heart. Or, if you don't want to do that, you could add some beads to the chain to dress it up a little. If you do decide to make changes, please post the updated piece so we can see! Dawn

Dawn Hi, Thank you ever so much. I'm very grateful for the positive comments. I was feeling a bit iffy about this one. I will send an update once I've made up my mind! Best Wishes, Sami

Oh, I wouldn't have expected turquoise. I was just asking because I love dumortierite ever since I first discovered it for myself in a small bead shop in Cambridge about ten years ago.
Dawn is right, you can still experiment with it. Dawn and I love dangles. Just my personal opinion, though, a dangle would take attention off the bead in this case. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide.

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback! I decided to add an extra piece to my pendant. I instantly regretted it when I realised I’d have to weave the ends of the wire through the pendant frame as it was already closed up. So there was a lot of wire kinks, a lot of holding my breath in case the wire snapped, but I’m glad I persevered. I like the appearance of the final pendant now. Might try and do it again, so that things are done in the right order and that maybe it will look tidier 😂 Attachments:

Oh yes, Sami, well done, that really enhances it, I especially like the little scroll ends! This would look lovely with all kinds of beads or crystals.

Nicely done and I congratulate you for not giving up! It has always been my experience that I learn much, much more from a piece or technique that challenges me than I do from one that goes together easily. Every mistake, every kink, every little thing that makes me hold my breath until I get it right proves to be a wealth of information for future designs. Plus, there is the satisfaction of successfully completing something of beauty even if it isn't perfect. Just think of how much you learned from this experience and how much easier it will be the next time you make something similar. This is the true journey. Dawn

Absolutely lovely! The pendant was great in it’s more minimalist look, but the scroll work really enhanced it. And welcome!

I liked the pendant before the addition, but now you gave it a more unique look. Beautiful pendant!
