These are what I created for this month's Art Elements "fossils" challenge. I think this first one is a snail. A friend gave it to me and it looks like it was a snail at one time. At least it does to me. This is an orthoceras that I bought in a rock shop. It was the right shape to do this type of wire weaving which is inspired by Peruvian thread weaving. Thanks for looking! Both are fantastic pieces, Dawn. I especially love the second necklace - very striking.

Dawn, both pieces are fantastic! I am always intrigued by the wire knitting. My entry. This is a Petoskey stone. The inclusions in the stone are fossils of an ancient coral.

The first one is cool, the second one is a stunner, Dawn. Michelle, your pendant is so beautifully done.
Great work, both of you!
My entry is still a WIP, maybe I can work on it tomorrow to distract myself while the furry master is at the vet's for getting his teeth done.

Thank you ladies! I am working on a third, but it's not finished yet. Michelle, I love what you did with your fossil and I'll link to and comment on your blog later. Due to a big snowstorm yesterday, I lost my internet and just now got it back, so I haven't had a chance to add links. Cat, I don't think you're the only one who is in WIP stage. Most of the links provided didn't work, so I went looking on my own, and except for Michelle, no one had posted anything to their blogs yet. That may have changed since yesterday, but I haven't been able to do anything online as mentioned above. Dawn

Dawn, the reveal day was today and only Claire's post is still missing. I know that my link was wrong in the email, but correct in the reveal post on AE, so I guess the others are, too. Stay safe and warm during the snowstorm. I don't even want to think about snow!

Ah, that explains it. I thought it was on the 26th - not often that I'm that early for something! I'll head over there and grab the links. Thanks, Cat! I am, Cat. I think I might turn into a hibernating bear until this is all over. I was out shoveling for a while earlier today, but I'm done with that for the rest of the day. I'm trying to dig my car out for a dental appt on Monday, but I've got several days to accomplish that. I brought my traveling jewelry kit with me and I'm going to spend my spare time fiddling with wire. I haven't done enough wire work lately and my skills are getting rusty. There are several cabs in my stash that need attention so no shortage of things to wrap wire around! Dawn

Dawn and Michelle. Your fossils are stunning! Dawn - the top one is beautiful and I like the original way the wire holds the stone! The second one is beautifully made. Very nice indeed. Michelle, I love the asymmetry I find in your jewelry. Beautiful work! I almost forgot this red fossil ring. The only fossil I ever used in my jewelry :
